How to work through difficult thoughts and emotions that may come up.
We are all short on time. This site is an attempt to help you make a start.
There'll be something for you, whatever you're ready for. Understanding the details of the Treaty needs to come after the foundations of understanding your own identity, and exploring te ao Māori. Knowledge without action is not helpful to anyone.
This subject can bring up lots of thoughts and emotions. It's helpful to reflect on what values brought you here. Your values can keep you steady as the emotions come and go. For some people it's 'fairness' for others it is 'togetherness' and 'advocacy', or 'compassion', care for the wellbeing of others and Aotearoa. This exploration you are undertaking will benefit your children, and theirs and theirs. Kia kaha.
The links to information come from many sources. I have put a particular focus on Māori representing themselves and telling their ow stories. There is also information from Pākehā (in their own words) about their exploration of privilage and culture. If you click on words that are underlined you will be taken to the webpage that the words are about.
